Virginia Jean Williamson, the daughter of Clarence Addison and Minnie Dora (Fivecoat) Welcher was born on August 17, 1928 in Afton, IA. She was raised in Afton and graduated from Afton High School with the class of 1945. Jean married John Charles Williamson on March 9, 1946 in Creston. They lived in Creston where Jean was a homemaker and housewife, raising their 11 children.

Jean was a devoted wife and mother. She loved listening to old country music, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Loretta Lynn and Ernest Tubb, to name a few. She really enjoyed going to Lakeside Casino.

Left to cherish her memory are eight children: daughters, Sharon (Clarence) Keller, Creston, IA; Dianne Trenkle, Creston, IA; Sandra Casteel, New Market, IA; Joyce Williamson, Tyler, MN; Gloria Williamson, Osceola, IA; Peggy (Joe) Wilson, Corning, IA; Penny Williamson, Des Moines, IA; son, Don (Teresa) Williamson, Creston, IA; 150 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Jean is also survived by daughter-in-law, Sharon Williamson, Creston, IA; two brothers, Terry Welcher, Boone, IA; Rory Welcher, Winterset, IA; sister, Geraldine “Jeri” Ray, Orient, IA; two sisters-in-law, GeeGee Welcher, Kansas City, KS; Beulah Welcher, Mt Pleasant, IA; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding Jean in death were her husband, John, in 1983; three sons, Rodney, Doug and Johnny Williamson; four brothers, Jimmy Rex, Alvin, Raymond and Delbert Welcher; two sisters, Evelyn Williams and Rosetta Welcher; granddaughter, Michelle Casteel; three great grandchildren, Seth Williamson, Margaret Williamson and Kooper Lohoff; great-great granddaughter, Abigail Pellman, and her parent
