Marxen, Donald LeRoy -
Donald LcRoy Marxen was born July 19, 1927, in rural Cass County, Iowa, the youngest of three children born to Claus and Lucille (Wilms) Marxen.
Don married Norma Ruth Brown on Oct. 17, 1948. To this family four children were born: Stephen, Barbara, Robert and Ralph.
Don served his country in the U.S. during WWII.
He died Feb. 4, 1998, at his home in Orient at the age of 70 years, 6 months, 15 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wilbur Marxen, a brother-in-law Bill Butcher, and a grandson Donald Driver.
Don is survived by his wife Norma Marxen of Orient, children: Stephen Marxen and wife Betty of Lenox; Robert Marxen and friend Connie Weihs of Creston; Ralph Marxen and friend Chris Rose of Cromwell, and Barbara Johnson and husband Jerry of Linn Creek, Mo.; sister Esther Butcher of Orient; sister-in-law Edith Marxen of Lewis, four grandchildren: Rebecca, Clinton, Brenda and Brandy
Marxen; step-grandchildren: Dustin Weihs, Brianne Weihs, Tony Johnson, Sheryl Tucker, Anita Blain, Katie Countryman and Alex Rose; and great grandchild Paige Marxen.
Graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 9, at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Spaulding Township of Union County, with Rev. Lucy Elrick
officiating. Pallbearers were Hub Bradley, Jim Wolfe, W. Howie Cross, Delmer Brown, James McIlravy and Dennis Struble.
Memorials are suggested Green Valley Hospice.
Coen-Beaty Funeral Home of Creston was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
