Toland, Enos Riley -
Enos Riley, son of William and Eliza Toland was born August 20, 1855 near Industry, McDonough county, Ill., where he grew to manhood, and passed away October 20, 1934 at 2:25 a. m.

He was one of a family of ten children: four sisters and one brother have preceded him in death, also three half brothers, his mother and father. The living brothers are Steve Toland of Kent, Iowa, Milton of Rushville, Ill., Ingram of Industry, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. George Sharps of Industry, Ill.

When a young man he went to Missouri where he was married to Josephine Sanders, February 27, 1876. To them were born ten children: Bertha and
Earl who died in infancy; Walter J. of Des Monies; Huldah Pearson of Lenox; Willie R. of Industry, Ill., Branch W, of Lenox; Jesse E. of Kansas City. Mo.,Leslie V. of Lenox; Verne B. of Carson, Iowa and Ruth Moore of Lenox. There are also 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, who with his wife survive him.

Many years ago he united with the Calvary Methodist church where he remained a faithful member.

Though he suffered so greatly, yet he was always patient, and always had a kind welcome for everyone, and appreciated everything that was done for him, knowing for a long time that he must leave his family and pass on, yet he never murmured nor complained—but often expressed a desire to go.

Funeral services were held at the Lenox Methodist church on Monday, October 22, at 2 o'clock in charge of the pastor, Rev. F. L. Shepherd. A quartette composed of Mrs. Alice Dunbar, Mrs. F. L. Shepherd, Mr. O. P. Arnold and Dr. W. H. Cash sang favorite hymns. Burial was in the Morgan cemetery.
