Alvin Comer, Lorimor

Alvin E. Comer, 67, of rural Lorimor died Saturday, May 1 at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident a week ago.

Born January 15, 1915 in Lorimor, he was the son of Truman and Jessie Stroup Comer and lived at the family farm in Union county for many years. He married Vera K. Cornelison on September 3, 1938 in Cedar Falls.

He was a farmer and machinist and worked at Solar Aircraft and John Deere plants in Des Moines, Ankeny and Waterloo. He was a member of Fern Lodge 558 AF and AN and the Venus Chapter 295 Order of the Eastern Star in Lorimor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two aunts and two uncles.

Survivors include his wife, Vera; 3 daughters, Nancy Clark of Verona, MO., Sally Brown of Lorimor, and Susan Karpan of Elkader, Iowa; step-mother Grace L. Comer of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Lorimor Methodist Church, Rev. Dan Berry officiating. Burial was in Groesbeck cemetery.
