Hayes, John J. –
John J. Hayes was born near Antioe, Ohio, Sept. 19, 1863 and passed away at his home in Creston, Iowa April 22, 1945 at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 28 days.

He was a son of Samuel and Elizabeth Hayes and his early boyhood was spent in Ohio and Virginia. He then came to Bedford where he was united in marriage to Anna Turner Sept. 9, 1887. They made their home on a farm there until they retired in 1925 and moved to Creston.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters and three sons: Mrs. Joe Townsend and Mrs. Clark Blakely of Creston; Mrs. Roy Olmstead, Howsoen, Idaho; Mrs. Harlan Grimm, Sharpsburg, Iowa; Glen Hayes, Conway, Ia.; Cecil Hayes, Conception Jct., Missouri; O.P. Hayes, Chief Machinist and Warrant Officer, U.S. Navy.

Also surviving are twenty-one grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters.

In early childhood he united with the Church of Christ.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Creston and burial was made in Bedford cemetery.
