Dave Bethune Dies-Afton

Marion Davis "Dave" Bethune, 75, of LaCenter, Wash., formerly of Afton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 1989, of cancer at the Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver.

He was born July 12, 1914, in San Francisco, California, the son of Mary Violetta (Davis) and Roland Arthur Bethune Sr. He was a resident of the Afton community for 60 years and was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church.

Mr. Bethune is survived by a son Irvin Bethune of LaCenter, Wash.; three brothers, Clifford of Hillsboro, Ore., Kenneth of Camas, Washington, and Jack Bethune of North Plains, Ore.; and a sister, Marjorie Enloe of Indianapolis, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada; a son David; his parents; and three brothers, Roland Arthur Jr., Samuel James III and Harold.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 today, Thursday, at the Stroud-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home in Afton with the Rev. John Tunnicliff officiating. Visitation will be after 9 A.M. Thursday. Burial will be at the Groesbeck Cemetery.
