Fred Swanson, a young man of 21 years of age who is well and favorably known by nearly everyone was found in the rear part of the resident lot of his brother, G. A. Swanson about 2 a.m. Sunday morning March 27th in an unconscious condition with a bullet hole in his forehead and a revolver with one empty chamber lying by his side. He was until midnight laughing and joking and treating some of his friends to cigars on the strength of his coming marriage to one of Madison county’s popular young ladies, which event was to have occurred Monday March 28. All arrangements had been made for his marriage at his mother’s home in Creston Monday.

The funeral was held at the home of his mother Tuesday at 2 p.m., Rev. Samuelson officiating, and after the services all that was mortal was laid to rest beside his father who departed this life about a year ago. He leaves to mourn his loss an aged mother, three sisters and three brothers all of whom were present at his funeral except a sister in the west who was unable to reach home.
