Dies Here at 72James H. Stalker, 72, a lifetime resident of this community, died at his home in Douglas township at 11:20 a.m. Thursday. He had been ill for two years.
Funeral services will be held at the Congregational church at Cromwell at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Roland M. Wendell will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery here. His body will lie in state at the Keating and Beamer funeral home until 1 p.m. Saturday, when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until 2 p.m. The casket will not be opened after the service.
James Henry Stalker was born in Union county, Jan. 29, 1885. He was the son of Edward and Susan Widger Stalker. He was married in Douglas township, Feb. 9, 1909 to Iva Maxwell.
Mr. Stalker is survived by his widow; two sons, Robert M. Stalker of Creston and Donald J. Stalker of Afton; three grandchildren; two brothers Carey Stalker of Near Creston and Wray Stalker; a sister, Mrs. Edna Hatch of Lathrop, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
He had been a farmer in this vicinity all of his life. He was a member of the Cromwell Congregational church
Music at the services was by Ruth Franklin, organist and Margaret McLaughlin and Mrs. Clifford Buxton, vocalists. Casket bearers were George Herbel, Earl Keefer, William McKee, Ray Davis, Virgil Howie and Fred Fehrle
