Helen Caldwell, 92 of Creston died March 10, 2007. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.

Helen Caldwell, daughter of Nellie M. (Cook) and Charles L. Denton, was born Jan. 7, 1915 near Lorimor. She was educated in rural Union county Schools and graduated from Lorimor High School in 1933. She taught in rural schools for nine years.

On April 29, 1941, Helen married Kenneth Caldwell in Creston. They lived and farmed near Afton until moving to Creston 1947. Helen was a homemaker. Helen and her husband owned and operated Ken’s Spray Service for 35 years. She served as the bookkeeper. Helen was a member of Creston First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), serving as a Sunday school teacher, elder and on various committees. She belonged to the Red Hat Ladies Club. She was a former 4-H leader, respite care worker and assisted with Union County Historical Society.

Survivors include her son, Max (wife Fran) Caldwell of Ridgefield, Conn; two daughters, Donna (husband Hal) Rusk of Des Moines and Jane (husband Jerry) Hoover of Kansas City, Mo; four grandchildren Jennifer Rusk of Minneapolis, Minn, Amber (husband Damien) Jordan of Austin, Texas, Michael (wife Janette) Caldwell of Danbury, Conn., and four great- grandchildren, Kenneth, Ryan, Jackson and Dylan Caldwell; a niece, Joyce (husband Jim) Young of Atlantic.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband in April 2000, and three brothers, Harlan, Carroll and Dale Denton.
