James Theodore Miller
James Theodore Miller, youngest son of Henry C. and Angeline Burges Miller was
born in Muncie, Indiana on March 9th, 1873 and departed this life on March 27th,
1958 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa. He had been ill for some
time, but became seriously ill just 5 days before his death. His death came just 18
days after his 85th birthday.

Jim, as he was known and called by his friends and neighbors came to Union
County at the age of four years. On August 27th, 1895, he was united in marriage to
Mary Lovina Kingery and to this union were born five children; Olive DeFord of Pine
Valley, Calif., Bert of Albuerque, New Mexico; Carrie Stradley of Shannon City,
Iowa; Mona Jackson of Los Gatos, California; and Lonnie Miller of Osage, Iowa.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Mary Lovina (Kingery) Miller, the five
children named above; 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Mrs. Cora Kingery, of
Creston, is the only surviving sister.

Jim and Mary, as they were each called by their friends lived a long and happy
married life together. In 1955 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
More than 100 relatives and friends helped them share in this grand occasion. their
love for each other and their faith in God provided them with sufficient strength to
live a full and useful life.

Mr. Miller accepted Christ as his Saviour during a revival service being
conducted by Billy Sunday in 1906. He became a member of the Methodist church in
Afton and remained a faithful member until his death.
