Methodist Preacher Will Follow
His Young Charges to
Dances
~
Creston, Ia. March 5. – Rev. Maine, pastor of the Afton Methodist Church, attended a dance given here, paying $1 at the door and remaining sometime as a spectator. The preacher was not thee as a dancer; in fact, he took no part in the dance programme, but talked kindly and pleasantly with those who were present and especially to a couple of church members who were taking part in the festivities.

The next Sunday morning Rev. Maine preached a sermon to converts and touched on the subject of dancing and card playing. He informed his congregation that he proposed to look after his flock as a shepherd would his sheep as if any lamb were to stray away to dances and card parties he would be there.
