HALL

I would like to please obtain more information (e.g., obituary, honorable discharge paper) about Walter Wayland Hall (born 01/04/1925 - died 01/18/1999) whose remains were buried in Lexington Cemetery, Bedford, Taylor County, Iowa, USA).

I am trying to determine whether or not this Walter Wayland Hall was the same "Mr. Hall" that was my 1967 - 1968 8th grade math teacher at Urbandale Junior High School i Urbandale, Iowa.

if he was the same person, I would like to honor his WWII military service by purchasing a commemorative engraved brick from the National Museum of World War II Aviation in Colorado Springs, CO. The brick would be engraved with three lines indicating his military rank, name, military branch of service, unit served in, and World War II.

Walter Wayland Hall's WWII enlistment record (preserved by NARA AAD) shows his U.S. Army Serial Number as 37675890.

Barbara McCully told me over the phone today that Walter Wayland Hall's obit (which I have not seen) graduated from Drake University, taught in the Des Moines area public schools, and served in the 8th Air Force (based in England) during WWII.

Some of my Urbandale High School alumni have recently said that our "Mr. Hall" Urbandale Junior High School math teacher had once told them he had served a a B-17 turret gunner during WWII.

I would like to know for certain - whether or not -Walter Wayland Hall was the same person as our "Mr. Hall"?

If he was, perhaps He recorded his honorable discharge paper with the Taylor County (Iowa) Recorder's Office soon after serving in WWII and/or perhaps he applied for the Iowa bonus money once available to Iowa WWII Veterans.

Thank you for your help!

Sincerely,

Anthony N. Woloch
