Buried in Memory Cemetery, near New Market, Iowa, in Section 7, row 3.
Laura A, dau of T. and A. Rutledge, died 9 Apr. 1862, aged 3y 5m 4d, ...stone broken by 1993

Rev. Thomas Rutledge, did 28 July, 1884, aged 80 y, 7m, 28d

Death record at courthouse, book 1, page 20
adds, born Baltimore Co., Maryland, died of cancer which he had for 3 years, retired clergyman.

Marriage book 3, page 342, Mary E Rutledge married William J SMith, Oct 26, 1876 at Bedford

Book 3, page 308, Elizabeth Wood, married John G Bridal, Jan 1, 1876, at bride's residence.

Guardianship- Case 175, box 11
Case of minor children Mary M and Georg? Alice Cleaver, daughters of George R Cleaver, dcd, Arminda Rutledge Guardian. Contained the following info.

By Nov. 1881, the two girls had returned to live with their mother, Sarah C. Devault, wife of Isaac Devault.

In November 1877, the step-father was described as not suitable to raise the girls.

Birthdates given for the girls. Mary M, age 20 on Nov 20, 1881, Georg? Alice, age 17 on Feb 18, 1881.

Mary M was nearly blind. An organ was purchased for her, and she became very proficient. She lost most of her clothing in a fire at the Rutledge home in the fall of 1878.

Georg? Alice was very slight and slender, suffered from spinal disease, and was quite weak and unable to work or support herself when she became of age, and unable to attend school at some times.

Thomas Rutledge purchased land from W. S Flora in May 1875, and then sold the land to S. E. Flora in Aug 1875. Thomas had a number of other land purchases.

Armanda Rutledge sold some land in 1883.
