I have since discovered that Preston's parents were Joshua Anderson Ruffner (b. 1812/1813 in Virginia) and Jane Blaine (b. 1813/1814 in Virginia). Preston was one of seven children born to them. His siblings were David, Sarah, James, Mary Elizabeth, Nancy and Jesse. All were born in Virginia between 1843 - 1856. I also have some background on Jane Blaine (Blane/Blain). Beyond that, I'm still plugging away. Thanks for asking!
