I checked the newspaper index and found a listing for Charles. CHJ is the Clarinda Herald Journal. For that listing you would need to contact the Nodaway Valley Historical Museum. http://nodawayvalleymuseum.org/
VanAlstine, Charles, b 21 Feb 1882 Guss; d 24 May 1936 Grav; wed 1904 Emma Shum; f Edward VanAlstine; m Ella Kunce; i Grav. CHJ 01 Jun 1936
According to this listing, the Charles buried in Gravity would be the one you were looking for.
Info on first marriage: Vanalstine, Charles 22 wed Emma Shum 19. BFP 29 Dec 1904 BFP = Bedford Free Press. Marriage record should be in Taylor County Clerk's office.
Another death record for Charles. VanAlstine, Charles Edward, b 21 Feb 1882 Guss; d 24 May 1936 Grav; wed 1905 Emma Shum, 1 ch; f Edward VanAlstine; m Ellen --; i Grav. B 28 May 1936 (2) B = Bedford newspaper.
This listing may?? indicate Nancy Ellen Ella (Emma??) remarried a year later after Charles' death.

Find-a-grave listing for Emma.
