JUDGE H. M. GRIMES

Hon H. M. Grimes of North Platte, judge of the district court of the Thirteenth judicial district, was born in Russellville, Indiana, November 4, 1852. His elementary education was acquired in the public schools of his district and he then attended DePauw university at Greencastle, graduating in the class of 1875. He then attended the law department of the University of Iowa, Iowa City, being admitted to the bar in June 1877. He began his practice in Bedford, Taylor County, Iowa, where he became a member of the firm of Grimes & O'Day until August, 1878, when the firm became Haddock & Grimes. In April 1880, he removed to Ord, Nebraska, and became a member of the firm of Coffin & Grimes, this firm continuing until March, 1884. In August of the latter year he removed to North Platte and opened an office for himself. In January, 1886, he became a member of the firm of Hinman & Grimes, this partnership continuing until June, 1890, when the firm of Grimes & Wilcox was formed, which continued until January, 1896, when the senior member was elevated to the district bench.
