About 1850 Samuel Geiger and his wife Julia Francis (Howdyshell)left Perry County Ohio to migrate to Tama County. This started a general exodus of families from the community, including Huffords, Mericles, Howdyshells and other Geigers.
Henry and Samuel Houdyshell (brothers of Julia Francis) left Ohio in 1852. Samuel's wife was Sylvia Geiger (sister of Samuel Geiger). Henry's wife was Nancy Garrison. Samuel and family returned to Ohio. Samuel and Julia Geiger moved on to Kansas. Henry and Nancy remained. The couple had 8 children. The marriages of Jane to James Anderson, Mary to George Dupre, and Henry to Mary Bear are recorded in the 1850 -1880's marriages on this web site. Geiger info is given in detail in 1997 archived queries under Ken and Carol Baker.
