Mary Stauffer/Bear/Ross Puzzle

STAUFFER, BEAR, AND ROSS

Mary Stauffer married John Bear. John died in 1854. On the 1960 Census of Calton Township she is living with Daniel and Barbara Bear. In the 1880 census of Toledo Township,she again is living with Daniel and Barbara but has the last name of Ross and is mistakenly listed as Daniel's mother-in-law. This has caused errors in family trees,since this makes it sound like Barbara's maiden name was Ross. I knew this was wrong since older family member had told me that Barbara had been a Karstetter. I have searched and searched but cannot find the Ross who Mary may have married sometime in that 20 year spahn. Can anyone help?
