I am looking for John Jacob (b. June 13, 1848, Baden, Baden, Germany and died May 22, 1926 in Haven, Tama Co., Ia; buried in Haven Cemetery) and Katherine (b. Oct. 12, 1849 in Baden, Baden, Germany and died Nov. 2, 1919 in Haven, Tama Co., Ia and is buried in Haven cemetery)Weiss Wirstlin's obituaries. Katherine was my great grandmother's, Emma Barbara Weiss Smith, sister. Catherine came to the United States in 1875 with her parents and siblings, Parents: Matthias and Anna Maria Hasek Weiss, Siblings: Kathy, Wilber, Christina, and Maria. A sibling Matthias died in Germany and then there were Emma and Mary who were born in Linn County, Iowa.
Katherine married John Jacob Wirstlin in Linn Co., Ia on November 23, 1876 and I have a copy of their marriage registration from the Linn County courthouse. They had the following children: John Jacob b. Aug. 23, 1877
Frederick Carl b. Feb. 21, 1879
George Frederick b. Sept. 18, 1880
Charles Martin b. Oct. 13, 1882
Martin b. July 1884
Emma b. July 1887
Edward George b. Dec. 5, 1888
Mary b. Dec. 1891So I would say that John Jacob and Katherine would be your great grandparents. I do have more information on several of their children's family members. Please email me your email address if you are interested in more. staceyjo@iowatelecom.net.
