TAMA – Services for Edna M. Means, 92, who died Monday at a Marshalltown hospital, will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Mason Hand Funeral Home in Tama; burial in Oak Hill Cemetery at Tama. She was a nationally known publisher of the Edna Means Dramatics Service, which published speech material. She was a pioneer in publishing speech materials for high schools and colleges throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. The materials were original and adapted by her. She was director of speech at Highland Park College in Des Moines for two years. She performed on State and on radio in Chicago and appeared in a one-woman show in schools and colleges. She was heard over WGN, WLS, and WCSL radio stations, all in Chicago, with original monologue and character parts in radio drama, which gave her a national reputation. She was joined by Eleanor G. Ogden and operated the service in Chicago for 25 years. They came in 1952 to Tama to live and continued the service from their home in Tama; survived by nephews.

TAMA – Funeral services for Edna M. Means, 92, of Tama, who died early Monday in a Marshalltown hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Mason-Hand Funeral Home Chapel in Tama. Miss Means published the Edna Means Dramatic Service, printing original manuscripts for high school and college plays. She acted in radio plays in the Chicago area during the 1920s. There are no immediate survivors.
