DAISY E. NEMECHEK

Daisy Edra Nemechek, 84, of Garwin died Sept. 15, 2012, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

A memorial service has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the McGuire Bend Church near Dayton, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Daisy Nemechek Memorial Fund.

Daisy was born May 2, 1928, in Webster County, near Dayton, the daughter of Daniel Edward and Margaret Belle Carpenter Lee. She was raised in the Lehigh area and received her education in the Lehigh School District.

On Aug. 12, 1946, she was united in marriage with Lyle Edward Nemechek, in Fort Dodge. The couple farmed for a year in Hamilton County, near Stratford, then moved to Lehigh where they raised their family. She later was employed for D.L. Williams Grocery Store in Lehigh and also sold products for Stanley, Am-Way, and Shaklee. Her husband died in 1983 and she later moved to State Center in 1996 and then to Garwin in 1999. She had been a resident at St. Francis Manor, where her daughter Lila is employed, since Aug. 20 of this year.

She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren; gardening, quilting, fishing and traveling; and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include her three children, Lila Glockl of Garwin, Michael Nemechek of Laurel and Marshall Nemechek of Humboldt; eight sibling, Mary Wells of Des Moines, Virval Widick of Stanhope, Daniel Lee and Virginia Cusey of Ft. Dodge, Fred Lee of Otho, Audrey Salgren of Lehigh, Jackie Lee of Norwalk and Diana Hansen of Dayton; eight grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Irene Trask; one brother in infancy, Kenneth Lee; and one grandchildren, great-grandchild and great-great-grandchild.
