OBITUARIES

STEVEN P. BACINO

Services for Steven P. Bacino, 77, of Elgin, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Laurence Catholic Church.

Born Feb. 17, 1920, in Tama, Iowa, to Giuseppi and Biagia Bacino, he died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Bacino had been a resident of Elgin for the past 51 years. He owned and operated the Virginian Restaurant in Crystal Lake, and the U.S. 20 Café and the Wayside Inn, both in Elgin, until his retirement. A veteran of the Army, he served in Europe during World War II. He was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin, and belonged as well to American Legion Post 57, VFW Post 1307 and Elks Lodge #737, all of Elgin.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Fisher Bacino, whom he married on May 5, 1948; son, Craig (Janice) Bacino of Helena, Mont.; grandson, John Bacino of Helena; sister, Sarah Bacino of Rogers, Ark.; and brother, Vencil (Patricia) Bacino of Tama.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven J.; and brother, Leo Bacino.
