INDIAN SUICIDES
Toledo, April 4. – Winfield Scott, an Indian committed suicide at the land reservation by shooting himself with a shotgun. He was 19 years of age and married to a squaw 17, and from writing he left it is supposed domestic infidelity was the cause, Joseph Tesson, the interpreter, says it is the fifth case of suicide among his people (word is blurred) located in Iowa forty years ago. The deed was done (word is blurred) p.m. in the house, not a tepee, (word is blurred) a fair little house of one of the Indian police. Scott, who was (word is blurred) and had no light sat upon his blanket which was spread upon the (blurred) put the butt of the gun against the (word is blurred) of the cook stove, pointed the muzzle at his breast, kicked the trigger with his toe and fell over dead.
