Roderick R. Shaw, 18, of Rte. 1, Tama, died Friday evening, June 4, at University Hospitals in Iowa City from head injuries he sustained June 1 in a motorcycle accident four miles southeast of Tama.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church of Tama, with the Rev. Robert Newburg officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.
The son of Bernard and Joan Shaw, he was born Dec. 22, 1963, at Marshalltown. He attended South Tama schools and had graduated from high school on May 16 of this year. He was employed at the Packaging Corporation and was enrolled at Ellsworth Community College. He was a member of the Tama United Methodist Church, the church choir, the U.M.Y.F., and the Young People's Prayer Group. He was active in sports.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Valorie, in 1958 and his maternal grandmother.
Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Sheryl A. and Rhonda K. Shaw, both of Rte. 1, Tama; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Shaw of Tama; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Badger of Grinnell.
