Wilhelm (William) Frederick Tams was born June 26, 1911 near Clutier, Oneida, Tama, Iowa to Peter Tams and Amelia Arp, the fourth of their eight children.

Wilhelm married Elsie M Mochal on December 24, 1935 at Waterloo, Iowa. The couple had 2 children: Terry and Kay.

Found in the 1915 - 1940 censuses at Oneida, Tama, Iowa:
1915: Willie Tams age 3.

1920: Peter Tams 44, Emily Tams 42, Minnie K Tams 18, Ella W Tams 16, William F Tams 8 ,Harry H Tams 6, Hilda A Tams 3 yrs 11 mos, Walter P Tams 1 yr 7 months.

1925: William Tams age 13.

1930: Peter Tams 55, Emily Tams 52, Ella Tams 27, William Tams 18, Harry Tams 16, Hilda Tams 14, Walter Tams 11, Gladys Tams 9.

1940: Wm Tams 28, Elsye Tams 29, Terry Tams 2, Walter Tams 21.

Their family lived on a farm near Clutier, then moved to a farm near Traer. Finally the couple moved to Dysart, Iowa.

William Tams died on April 21, 1988 at Dysart, Tama, Iowa and was buried at the Oneida Township Cemetery, Oneida, Tama, Iowa.
