Funeral services for A. Allen McKinley, 92, of rural Traer were held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the United Presbyterian Church in Traer with the Rev. Rick Vesely officiating. Burial was at Buckingham Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Traer American Legion.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Allen died on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo following a short illness.

Alexandar Allen McKinley was born Nov. 23, 1914 in rural Traer, son of James and Jane Montgomery McKinley. Allen as he was known to his family and friends attended country school northwest of Traer. He then began farming and on Feb. 13, 1943 he was united in marriage to Pearl Reeves at the Presbyterian Church in Traer. Allen and Pearl made their home farming in the Traer area.

Allen was a member of the Traer American Legion and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, three in infancy and Jim and David; three sisters, Margaret, Emma and Elizabeth; one grandson Lanny Vest and one great-grandchild David Johnson.

Allen is survived by his wife Pearl, four children: Ann McKinley, Jean (Larry) Vest, Victor (Mary) McKinley and David (Pam) McKinley all of Traer, 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a brother, John of Rochester, MN.

Overton Funeral Home, Traer, was in charge of the arrangements.
