TRAER - Gladys A. Ludvichek, 94, of Traer died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008 at Sunrise Hill Care Center after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at Overton Funeral Home in Traer with Re. Rick Vesely officiating. Burial was in National Cemetery in Vining.
Gladys A. Ludvichek was born Jan., 7, 1914, near Elberon, daughter of Charles and Agnes (Yanda) Konicek. She received her education in country school near Clutier.
On March 3, 1937, she was united in marriage to Lester Ludvichek in Cedar Rapids. Gladys and Lester made their home in the Traer area where they farmed for 20 years. In 1981 they moved to a home at 802 Crestview Drive where she continued to live following Lester's death on Nov. 18, 1996.
Gladys was a hard worker and was a cook in several restaurants in Traer and also did catering for the Traer Lions Club for many years. She also sorted corn at Funks Seek Corn. In Septemnber of 2003 she became a resident of the Sunrise Hill Care Center. In her free time Gladys and Lester enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester, one sister Mildred Caslavka and one brother Edward Konicek.
She is survived by a nephew Robert (Marcella) Caslavka of Clutier and four nieces; Carol (Dennis) Walton of Montour, Kathy Biwer of Cedar Rapids, Susan (Leo) Pospisil of Minnesota and Karen (David) Beenken of Buckingham.
Overton Funderal Home in Traer was in charge of arrangements.
