Dale Justice of Magalia, 91 of California died July 23, 2009. Dale was born May 28, 1918 in Pleasant Grove, IL to Charles Justice and Stella (Legg) Justice. Dale spent most of his youth in Iowa. After high school Dale enlisted in the US Navy and 1939 and was assigned to USS Vestal (AR-4). On December 7, 1941 the Vestal was moored alongside the USS Arizona (BB-49) in Pearl Harbor, HI. Dale served in the Pacific for the entire war and advanced to Chief Electricians Mate. Dale was discharged in 1945 and immediately employed by an electrical shop in Lomita, CA. Dale eventually worked for Honeywell Corporation as an environmental test engineer. Dale retired in 1973 and moved to Magalia.

Dale was a popular member of numerous local organizations in his California neighborhood: VFW (past post commander); American Legion; Pearl Harbor Survivors Association; Paradise Veterans Council Honor Guard; Fraternal Order of Eagles; Loyal Order of Moose; Table Mountain Masonic Lodge; and Sons of the American Revolution. Dale enjoyed many close friendships and was an avid fisherman.

Dale is survived by his wife of 41 years, Irene Justice; sister, Marie Finch of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughters, Linda Justice of Seattle, WA and Vicky Brennan of New York, NY; step-children, Larry Colson of Harelton, TX and Cheryl Head of Magalia, CA. Dale has eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his parents, his brother Wayne Justice, his sister Myrna Reuman of Traer, and his first wife, Margaret (Hinkle) Justice.

A Memorial Service was held at the Veterans Memorial Hall on Thursday, July 30. In lieu of flowers or donations, please give a pint of blood at your local blood drive.
