STRATFORD - Ralph U. Freese 66, former Stratford mayor and town councilman was found dead at his home Thursday afternoon at about 4 o'clock. Death apparently was due to a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the Stratford Baptist church with the Rev. R. I. Thompson officiating. There will be a prayer service at 1:45 pm at the Hanson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Freese served as mayor of Stratford for two years and had been serving as a member of the town council. He formerly operated a furniture store in this community and also a cafe. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine and a member of the American Legion, being a veteran of World War I. He also served as Stratford librarian for a short time following the death of his wife. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Surviving are five brothers, Weldon and Jerry Freese of Vernon, Texas, Russell Freese of Hubbard; Artford Freese of Bloomfield, MO, and Kelvin Freese of Holton, KS, and one sister, Mrs. O. S. Aldridge of Nora Springs.
