Newspaper obituary from the Traer Star-Clipper, Traer, IA, June 16, 1922:
Caroline Lena Arp
Mrs. Christian Arp: 1840-1922. The body of Mrs. Christian Arp was brought to Dysart from Pipestone Co., Minnesota, yesterday for burial. Caroline Lena Arp died at the home of her son Carl at Trosky, MN on Monday night June 12, 1922, of chronic nephritis. She was eighty-two years of age.

Caroline Lena was born in Scheslwig-Holstein, Germany on July 16, 1840. She was united in marriage to John Christian Arp in Germany and they were blessed with 5 children: Emma Dorothea, Herman John, Otto Arthur, Carl W. and Richard Arp. The family immigrated to Scott County, Iowa in 1885, bringing along a nephew, Julius Arp (son of Henry & Bertha Arp). Shortly after, they moved to a farm near Dysart, Iowa.

Deceased was one of the early settlers of Oneida township, where she lived about thirty-five years. Nearly two years ago she went to Minnesota with her son Carl, and has since made her home with him. Her husband died in Oneida township December 14, 1916.

Deceased leaves a son, Henry, in Michigan; four sons and a daughter in Pipestone Co., Minn., namely: Carl, Otto, Herman and Richard Arp and Mrs. Peter Lorenzen.

Relatives in Tama County are: Herman Arp, of Clutier, a nephew; Mrs. Peter Tams, Oneida, a niece; Mrs. Catherine Arp, Clutier, sister-in-law; two grandsons, east of Clutier; there is also a niece at LaPorte, Mrs. Jurgen Jebe, and Ed Arp of Jesup, a nephew.

The funeral services will be in the Lutheran Church in Dysart, of which deceased had long been a member, at 10 a.m. this Friday. The body will be interred in the Glorfeld Cemetery in Oneida, beside that of the husband.

This 2nd obituary appeared in the Pipestone Leader, Pipestone, MN newspaper June 1922:

Mrs. Caroline Arp passed away at the home of her son, Carl, at Trosky Tuesday night at 10:30 o'clock. She was born in Germany and was 81 years, 10 months and 26 days old. The cause of her death was chronic nephritis. The funeral will be held at Trosky today and the remains will be shipped to Dysart, Iowa for burial.
