Henrich Henry Arp was born in a little village of Steine, near Kiel or Rosendorf, Holstein, Germany, in the year of 1845, on January 31st. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Adelia Witt, 4 miles NW of Gladbrook, Iowa on November 16th, 1926, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 16 days.

He was married to Bertha Schoel in 1864 in Germany. They came to America in the year of 1893, making their home near Dysart until his wife, Bertha (Schoel) Arp, preceded him in death Nov. 6, 1904. From that time on, he made his home with his children until 1915, then he stayed continually at the home of his daughter, Adelia Witt, near Gladbrook, until he passed away on November 16, 1926.

He leaves to mourn: 4 sons: Julius, Johannes, William and Herman; 4 daughters: Wilhelmenia (Mr. Fred Stoltenberg), Anna (Mrs. August Ketelsen), Adelia (Mrs. Fred Witt), and Emma (Mrs. Hans Klinker); 33 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.

The funeral services were held at the Fred L. Witt home Friday morning at 11 o'clock. followed by interment in Oneida township cemetery. The pall bearers were: Fred L. Witt, William Arp, Herman Arp, Julius Arp, August Ketelsen, and Hans Klinker. "
