OBITUARY
ALTA MARQUART
Funeral services for Alta Eloise Marquart, 106, of Traer will be held Thursday, June 29, 1995, at 11:00 am at the Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in Red Oak, Iowa, with Dr. Wayane Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak.
Visitation hours are from 6-8 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
She died Sunday, June 25, 1995, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo following a short illness.
Alta Marquart was born July 26, 1888, at Corning, Iowa; the daughter of Michael and Marjorie (McIntyre) Fife.
She attended college at Shenandoah, Iowa, where she met her husband, Clarence E. Marquart. They were united in marriage Sept. 1, 1910, at Red Oak. Alta lived most of her life in Red Oak, moving to Traer in 1986. On Jan. 7, 1987, she became a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center.
She was a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church and the Navy Mothers in Red Oak.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one sister and four brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Clarence Marquart of Seal Beach, CA and Phillip Marquart of Modesto, CA; three daughters, Mrs. William A. (Marjorie) Thompson of Des Moines; Betty Whannel and her husband, Leland; Joan Thompson and her husband William J. of Des Moines; one sister, Velma Mealey of Bradenton, FL; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Red Oak Prebyterian Church.
