OBITUARY
HATTIE HANOUSEK
A Funeral Mass for Hattie M. Hanousek, 81, of Traer, was held Friday morning, May 7, 1999, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hattie died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer following an extended illness. Father John Tilp officiated the funeral service and music was provided by Bonnie Kopriva. Mass cards were tended to by Ann Niedermann and Mary Hala.
Casket bearers were David Axler, Lanry Fleshner, Donald Hach, Tom Merchant, Bill Pults, Charles Skarda and Ronald Kubik. Mr. and Mrs. . Ray Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Jacobs tended to floral tributes.
Hattie Mildred Hanousek was born Oct. 16, 1917, near Traer, the daughter of Vince and Julia (Salasek) Axler. She attended Stormy Point School through the eighth grade and then worked for area families.
On Sept. 26, 1939, she was united in marriage to Milo Hanousek. Hattie and Milo made their home farming on the Hanousek home farm east of Elberon. In 1949 they bought a farm northwest of Dysart where they farmed until 1976 when they moved to Traer.
Hattie entered Sunrise Hill Care Center Aug. 8, 1996. Hattie was a homemaker and loved her garden and flowers, which she shared with many area residents. She was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Rosary Society.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother; Elmer Axler. Hattie is survived by her husband, Milo Hanousek; one daughter Mrs. Ray (Lois) Hoopman of Douglas, WY; four sisters, Lillian Kucera of Tama, Ida Kosnar of Traer; Martha Kubik of Cedar Rapids and Julia Kubik of Traer; four grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
