Robert Hach Sr.

Graveside services for Robert James Hach, Sr., 81, of Dysart, were held Saturday, April 22, 2000, at 11 am, at the Clutier Cemetery, with Rev. Garry Moore of the Calvary Baptist Church, Dysart, officiating. Mil¬itary rites were done by Meyers-Gordy-Pippert Post #335 of Dysart. Robert had been fighting poor health and his death came at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo Thursday morning, April 20, 2000.

Robert was born at Clutier, Ia, December 10, 1918, the son of James and Frieda (Dose) Hach. He received his education at the Clutier and Dysart Schools. After school, he worked for John Deere in Waterloo for a time.

On Aug.16, 1941, Robert married Ferne Weikert at Kirksville, Mo. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army from June 12, 1942 to Oct. 14, 1945. He worked as a radio control operator in Panama during his duty.

In 1947, Ferne and Robert began farming south of Dysart where they made their home most of their married life. Ferne died Dec. 18, 1998, and Robert-continued to live on the farm. In his spare time, he enjoyed fish¬ing, watching sports, and had a great time visiting with friends.

Robert was a member of the Dysart American Legion and held the position of Past Commander.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ferne; three brothers, Clarence and AlIwin and Roy in infancy.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Hach, Jr., and his wife Dianne of Dysart and Richard Hach and wife Angie of La Porte City; a brother, Merril Hach of Cedar Falls; and three grandchildren, Nick, Kyle and Cara.
