OBITUARY

Gladys Draper

Funeral services for Gladys H. Draper, 92, of Traer, were held Thursday, Dec. 19, at 10:30 a. m. at the United Methodist Church in Traer with burial in Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer. She died at Covenant Medica! Center in Waterloo Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996. The Rev. Marshall Monthei officiated the service with Joleen Edwards, organist and Wayne Dunlavey, vocalist. Casket bearers were Don Draper, George Draper, Richard Draper, Gary Juhl, David Draper and Tom Jobl. Mr. and Mrs. Don Steffeny and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Schmidt were in charge of floral arrangements.

Gladys H. Draper was born Oct. 9, 1904, in Tama Counly, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas A. and Ethel J. (Ross) Hild. She attended school in Geneseo and graduated from Geneseo Consolidated School in 1924.

She was united in marriage to John "Jack" Draper on Feb. 25, 1925. Gladys and her husband made their home farming in the Buckingham and Traer areas for many years and later retired to Traer. For the past eight years Gladys has been a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. She was a member of the United Methodist church in Traer.

In her free moments she enjoyed bird watching arid playing cards. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 23, 1980; one son, John Jr in 1995; one sister, Evelyn Platte and three brothers, Daniel in infancy and Stanley and Herbert Hild. Surviving are two sons, Paul of Midvale, Utah and Merle of River Falls, Wis.; one sister, Vera Reece of Waterloo; two brothers, Dale Hild of Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer and Thomas Hild of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
