OBITUARY

MAX BRIGGS

Services for Max M. Briggs. 78. of Windsor, Calif, and formerly of Traer, will be held Friday, April 19. 10:30 a. m. at Overton Funeral Home, in Traer, with burial in Geneseo Cemetery, rural Buckingham. Visitation hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Briggs died Saturday, April 13, 1996 at his home in Windsor of cancer. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Mark Binder. Judy Mason will be organist and vocalists are Ellen Kern and Jean Staker.

Max M. Briggs was born Dec. 8, 1917, at Traer, IA, the son of John "Jack" Franklin and Iva (Stevenson) Briggs. Max received his education in Traer and graduated from Traer High School in January 1937.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Leslie and the couple made their home in Iowa, Texas, Arizona, Colorado and for the past 26 years in the Los Angeles, Calif, area. Max was employed as a retail sales manager for Carnation Dairy for over 41 years, retiring in 1980. In 1985 they moved to Windsor, Calif.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Gail and one sister, Jean. Surviving in addition to his wife, Ruth of Windsor are two sons, M. Michael Briggs of Palo Alto, CA, and Leslie Briggs of Boulder, CO; two sisters, Iva June Uridil and La Vonne Basson, both of Colorado Springs. Colo. and four grandchildren.
