OBITUARY

Funeral services for Elizabeth Bruene, 63, of Traer were held Saturday morning, Aug. 21, 1999, at the United Presbyterian Church in Traer with the Rev. Rick Vesely officiating. Burial was in Crystal Cemetery, rural Toldeo.

Elizabeth died as the result of an automobile accident in rural Grundy County, near Reinbeck Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999.

Music for the funeral service was provided by Mary Nelson, Ellen Kern and Jean Staker.

Casket bearers were Roger Boerm, Ed Buresh, James Currens, Les Meggers, Sam young and Roy Kern. Floral tributes were handled by Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Oettchen and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hanus.

Elizabeth was born Dec. 23, 1935, in Peoria, Ill., a daughter of Dwight and Eleanor Mae (West) Plate. She received her elementary education in Macomb, Ill., and later graduated from high school in Marshalltown. She then continued her education at Marshalltown Comnmunity College.

Elizabeth was united in marriage to Charles Bruene Nov. 18, 1959, in Marshalltown. The couple farmed south of Traer.

She was very active in the United Presbyterian Church; taught Sunday school for 35 years and had served as Sunday School superintendent and helped at Bible school. She was also a member of the evening circle and the Bonne Volante working group of the church.

Liz was a member of the board of Tama County Farm Bureau and was a reporter of the women's comnmittee and had served as chairperson and vice chairperson for that group. She was also a member of the Perry Township Homemakers.

Survivors include her husband, Charles of Traer; a brother, Dwight and his wife, Roberta Plate of Alburnett; a half-brother. Ronald and a half-sister, Marlene, both of Omaha and two step-sisters, JoAnne and Margaret, both of Marshalltown.

A memorial fund has been established.

Overton Family Funeral Homes-Traer was in charge of arrangements.
