DRAPER, Alyce (1908-2002)

Alyce Marie Draper was born on August 25, 1908 on a farm near Big Springs, NE, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Garnjobst) Behrens. She graduated from Laurel, NE high school and attended nurse’s training at the University of Iowa. On December 25, 1931 Alyce was united in marriage to Glenn Draper in Crofion, NE at the home of her parents. She and Glenn farmed near Voorhies, IA until 1970 when they moved to their new home in Traer, IA. While in Traer, Alyce was a member of Ripley United Church of Christ. Glenn’s death came on June 24, 1983 and more recently Alyce had resided at Luther Manor Care Center in Dubuque, IA. Her death came at the care center on Monday, January 21, 2002 at the age of 93 years. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling and was an excellent cook. Alyce was a loving, kind and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn, a brother John and three sisters: Leona, Marie and Rachael. Surviving are a son James (Rae Jean) Draper of Dubuque, IA, two grandchildren, Scott (Diane) Draper of Ames and Jill (Steve) Schmidt of Minneapolis, MN and three great grandchildren. Also surviving her is a brother Ben Behrens of Salem, OR, three sisters: Lydia Hilfiker of Forest Grove, OR, Gladys Sinquefield of Eureka, CA and Lucille Barry of Lake Oswego, OR.

Interment: Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, Iowa

Following committal services at the cemetery, family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
