BRADLEY, Florence (1911 - 1998)

Florence BRADLEY

Florence BRADLEY, 86, of Traer, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo following a short illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. BRADLEY were held Friday morning, Jan. 9, 1998, at the Traer United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Rick Vesely officiating. Burial was in Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer.

Casket bearers were Ardis Tanner, Jean Novotny, Linda Moeller, Ida Schwartz, Jane Gaston and Katherine Schmit. Mary Nelson served as organist.

Florence Matilda BRADLEY was born Dec. 12, 1911, at New Hampton, Ia., the daughter of James G and Ida M (BRASSFIELD) YOHN. She received her education in a country school in Black Hawk County near Eagle Center, Ia.

On May 28, 1930, Florence was united in marriage to Albert BRADLEY at Des Moines. Florence and Albert made their home in the Traer area all their married lives where they raised their 12 children.

In free moments Florence enjoyed reading and will be remembered for her baking and crocheting.

Following Albert’s death Nov. 24, 1974, Florence continued to make her home in Traer. In recent months she had been in failing health.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were: one son, Wayne; two brothers; two sisters and two great-grandsons.

She is survived by five sons, Dave (Chuck) of Traer, Roger of Waterloo, Lynus of Traer, Steve of Brooklyn and Daniel of Traer; six daughters, Ardis TANNER, Ida SCHWARTZ and Jane GASTON, all of Waterloo; Jean NOVOTNY and Katherine SCHMIT, both of Traer, and Linda MOELLER of Tama; two sisters, Roselyn HOBBS of Ames and Marjorie SWIFT of California; 39 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
