Ernest Albert Wilkinson, 71, Chelsea died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at his home following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb.7, at 1:00p.m. at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Rector Cemetery in Chelsea.
Pallbearers are John Kalinay, Rudy Hoffa, Bob Van Hamme, Jerome Behounek, Bill Kasal and Russ Kasal. Honorary Pallbearers are Ray Wilkinson, Lyle Root, Mel Uridil, Todd Karr, Dilly Fay, Jerry Vavra and Virgil Vavra. The organist is Judy Ochs and vocalist Anna Upah.
Ernest Albert Wilkinson was born March 28, 1935, the son of Albert (Slim) and Nancy (Willey) Wilkinson. He attended country school in rural Chelsea. He helped out where ever needed on the farm with his three brothers and four sisters.
On December 5, 1959, he married Esther Mae Ward at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Together they farmed by Hartwick, Ladora, and Dysart. They made their home south of Chelsea. He enjoyed his farming, milking, dancing, playing cards, and best of all is garden and Orchard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Keith.
he is survived by Esther; daughters, Deb (Brain) Halverson of Toledo and Diane Wilkinson (Kurt Kelly) of Chelsea; brothers, Bernard (Verva) Wilkinson of Cedar Rapids and Jack (Cathy) Wilkinson of Chelsea; sisters, Margy Avery, of Clear Lake, Betty Priske and Lavina Kent both of Marshalltown and Shirley Cepelak of Union; grandsons, Tom and John Halvorson of Toledo; and many nieces and nephews.
Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine are in charge of arrangements.
