Trouble Over Deeds
~
Traer, March 2. – Last fall J. T. Everts made deeds to about $20,000 of land to his sons Howell and Charles. The deeds were left at the First National Bank without being recorded. The father maintains that he reserved the right to reclaim the deeds at any time during his life and at his death they were to be turned over to the sons. Mr. Evert’s wife died soon after. A few months later he married again. This started family trouble and the two sons demanded the deeds to the land. Mr. Evert went to the bank, secured the deeds and tore them up. The sons have begun suit in the district court for title of the land and it is expected to be a hot fight.
