From the Tama Herald, dated 1 Sep 1910.
Tama's Chief Executive.
The head of the Metropolitan Center of Tama County.
Just a glance at the portrait that embellishes this brief article is sufficient to show that Mayor Philander Hixson has reached years of discretion. Maybe that is why the city of Tama, under his administration, is making improvements, that will cost, when finally completed, not less than $40,000.
Mayor Hixson is a Hoosier, and is even proud of it but for the information of those who may not have the same taste for Hoosiers that he possesses we might add that he has been in Iowa so long that he is now a full fledged Hawkeye.
The administration of Mayor Hixson has been characterized by unusually harmonious relationship on the part of those composing the city governmen. Much of the credit for this satisfactory condition must be given His Honor who has shown as ability to secure harmony when prospects for attaining it were not flattering.
