Son of L. D. and Helen Young.

Enlisted Sep 4, 1917 at Cedar Rapids, IA.

Entered Jefferson Bks; transferred to Gettysburg, PA, Camp Greene; first entered Co. L, 61st Inf.

Mustered out July 28, 1919 from Casual Co. 1771.

In France April 28, 1918; member of Co. L, 61st Inf., 5th Div.

In battles of St. Mihiel and Argonne-Meuse.

Gassed when in battle Argonne-Meuse offensive. Was cited three times. 5th Div. was cited by General Pershing.
