SONKENS, Walter John

Born Jan 25, 1894 in Beaman, IA.

Son of John H. and Amila Sonkens.

Enlisted Jan 21, 1916 at Des Moines; entered Great Lakes Training Station; first entered USS New Hampshire.

Mustered out Jan 21, 1920, from USS Tarbell.

In France Sep 9, 1917. In three sea battles.

2nd Class Engine Driver.
