Son of Christ J. and Lizzie Schmidt.
Enlisted Aug 26, 1917 at San Francisco, CA; entered Presidio, CA; first entered Battery B, 102nd F.A., 26th Div.
In France Feb 13, 1918; member of Batterey B, 102nd F.A., 26th Div.; in battles of Chemin des Dames Sector, La Reine and Boueq Sector, Neptune Sector, Pas Fini Sector, Rupt and Tryon Sector, and St. Mihiel operation, and Argonne-Meuse offensive. Gassed in the battle of Chateau Theirry. Their flag decorated by the French Gov.; 43 decorations from the French Gov., and cited three times by the American Gov.
