Son of Michael T. and Mary C. O'Connell

Enlisted Jun 1, 1917 at Marshalltowhn, IA.

Entered Fort Logan; transferred to Vancouver Barracks, Camp Greene; first entered Co. B, 4th US Engineers.

In France May 14, 1918; member of Co. B, 4th Engineers, 4th Div. In battles of Aisne, Marne, Vesle River, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne, Toulon. Also in Army of Occupation. Division was cited six times.

Mustered out Aug 4, 1919 from Co. B, 4th US Engineers.

Sergeant.
