Born April 9, 1895 in McGregor, IA.

Son of James R. McCabe and Mary E. Gillmartin.

Enlisted May 10, 1918 in Toledo, IA.

Entered Jeffferson Barracks; transferred to Camp Merritt and Camp Mills.

In France on Dec. 1918; member of Hdqrs. Co., 7th Div., 64th Inf. Two months at the front.
