Son of Anton Christian and Christine Dorothea Birgette Jessen.

Enlisted Dec 12, 1917 at Des Moines, IA.

Entered Naval Training Station, Great Lakes; transferred to Camp Dewey, New York; first entered 2nd Reg. Co. F.

Mustered out Feb 4, 1919 from Great Lakes.

Made five trips to France on USS North Carolina.

1st Class Seaman.
