Son of Calvin and Bertha Freese.

Enlisted May 18, 1917 at Marshalltown, IA.

Entered Fort Logan; transferred to Presidio, Camp Dodge and Camp Pike; first entered Casual Camp; Sep 28, 1917, made Sergeant; May 28, 1918, Sergeant First Class; commissioned at Camp Pike.

Second Lieutenant.
