Son of Ulysses S. and Catharine Carris.

Enlisted Feb 25, 1918 at Toledo, IA.

Entered Camp Dodge; transferred to Camp Sevier; first entered Co. F, 105th Engineers, 30th Div.

In France Jun 7, 1918; took part in battles of Cambrai and St. Quentin; was gassed.
